Does Waist Training Give Real Results Or Is It Just A Gimmick?
For some women having a tiny waist has become quite the obsession. Social media is flooded with pictures of people wearing Waist Trainers even some celebrities have been seen with them on, but do these things really work? Can restricting your waist for most of the day really be the answer to reaching your fitness goals? In today's blog I want to go over how does the waist trainer work and if it really gives real results or is it just a gimmick?
When people waist train they basically wear a corset most of the day, even while working out which is ridiculous, and supposedly your waist will get smaller. When you waist train, your body adjusts to the shape of the corset over time and the floating ribs shift more easily to give you the illusion of a smaller waist. This is done over a very long period of time and doesn’t just happen right away. This has nothing to do with the actual body fat you have on your stomach. Diet and exercise will still have to be done in order to get rid of the body fat, once you get rid of the body fat, your waist will get smaller so what's the point of this waist trainer. Using a waist trainer can also be harmful to your health. You are putting your body under unnatural circumstances by wearing the waist trainer all day. Your organs can be shifted as well which can cause you great harm. Many also wear it during exercise which is a bad idea. When you workout, your body has certain stabilizer muscles that help you do the exercise, if you are wearing a waist trainer it will be doing the stabilizing for you which in the long run will make your stabilizers weaker since you aren't activating them. Eventually, when you aren't using the waist trainer anymore, you will have an imbalance, and can cause injury easily since these stabilizers aren't strong enough.
I myself have been training for 16 years and have trained clients all over the US and other countries for the past 12 years, and I can tell you that there are no shortcuts to getting fit. There's really nothing that will get you to your fitness goal unless you are eating and training towards it properly. There's no gadgets, pills or potions that will get you fit, it's simply deciding to make the change and moving forward with that decision.
